Time – Our Most Valuable Commodity

Today we are living in extremely challenging times where our security, our economy and life itself is being tested. We all have questions and new ways of looking at life. We entrepreneurs have our own unique set of challenges. You have heard the cliché “Only the strong shall survive.” I would like to notch that up and say that the ones who take the time to adjust, to get organized, to be creative and to have a vision will not only survive, but flourish in all kinds of economic times. You may say “great”, but I just don’t have the time. As soon as I put out one fire another one pops up. I’m working up to 70 hours plus a week as it is. I have to handle the business that is on my plate which I never seem to complete. You’re right, most small businesses operate like this.

Time is a very valuable commodity. Make time your ally. How do you do this? Much has been written on this subject. It will serve you well to step out of the box and explore some of the many ways to manage your time. Make it a priority to learn and put in to practice some of the valuable tools that will work for you. The rewards will be huge. Stop and ask yourself why you are in your business. On the top of your list, you may find Freedom, Money and Self Expression. You will have a lot more of these if you will incorporate these valuable tools in to your business and personal life.

How would you like to possess one tool that can help you to solve many difference types of problems, get more done in less time, and have fun doing it? The cost is but a little time and some conscious awareness. This tool is like the wrench that you may have seen on TV, one wrench that can remove any bolt. This tool, you can use to assist you in your business and life, is Intention. When used properly, intention is very powerful. Just like the wrench, you have to use your intention to get the results… The more you learn how to apply intention, the more powerful your results will be.

Start out with little steps. Before you start your day, set your intention for that day. How do you want your day to look? What outcome would you like? How do you want to interact with the tasks that you will be doing? For instance – you grooming, exercise, meditating, breakfast, and the people you will meet that day, family, friends, associates, customers, and vendors. What challenges need your attention? How would you like to see your interactions go? What out come would you like to see? Say these outcome to yourself or write them down. For example, your grooming will make me feel fresh and sharp; the clothes that I wear will present me in the manner that you intend. Your breakfast will nourish me mentally and physically. My interaction with family, friend’s business associates will be uplifting, supportive, engaging, concerted and productive with clear positive results and actions for the highest good of all. When you set intentions, it is very important to put emotions and feelings behind these intentions. That’s the fuel that will create the results. You can set intentions throughout the day, and at night before you go to bed. This is doing your business by purpose rather than by default.


Fall is here with all of the familiar changes… The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting cooler, and there are acorns scattered under the trees. The leaves are falling. Squirrels and other animals are busy storing up food. These are all examples of natural adaptation. The animals and the trees know what they must do to survive and they make these adaptations instinctively. Webster’s dictionary defines adaptation as an adjustment to environmental conditions – modification of an organism – the process of adapting to new conditions.

As humans, we, too, must adapt to changes in our environments. Not all of these adaptations come to us instinctively. Step back and take a look around you at the changes to the environment that make up your world – your physical environment, your business, your finances, your health, recreation, friends and family life. What natural conditions are changing?

Physical Environment: Colder weather, drier skin, cold & flu season, wearing more clothing, staying inside more. You may want to make some changes to the surroundings in your home and office.

Business: Are the needs of your customer changing? Is it time to add or highlight different products, increase new customers, or go after a different market? Is it time to improve some of your skills or to add new ones?

Financial: How and where can you save money? Are you spending too much or too little on food or eating out, clothing, recreation, charity, etc.?

Health: Is it time to change, add or just start to exercise? What type of food and/or supplements do you add to your diet? Are you prepared to stay healthy through the colder months ahead?

Recreation: What do you do for recreation in these months?

Charity: Where do you donate your money, if any? Where do you donate your time (e.g., volunteering)?

How do you adjust to the changes in your environment? First of all, get into your mental helicopter and hover over that time period and capture the awareness of what is changing. Give yourself choices on what and how to make your adaptations and modifications. This will give you a better handle for that time period to add value and quality to your life. If you have a partner in your life, this will provide a lot of good creative conversation. This is being active rather than reactive with your life.

Are you wanting to go to the next level?

Do your business and/or life feel stagnant? Are there no real improvements or growth going on? Are you feeling comfortable like the crab? If he stays in his shell, he feels safe and never grows. Would you like to step out of that ho hum comfort zone, get reenergized and grow?

Where are you? What is it that you think you should do but are resistant? Be truthful with yourself. Are you just not sold on doing the changes, or are you fearful of doing it?

If it’s fear it could be the biggest fear we all face – the fear of failure. This can be perceived as not being smart enough, no courage, or just plain lazy. Whatever it is it will tear down your self-esteem. It’s impossible to function at peak performance when your self-esteem is low.

So what do you do? Change you perception of what failure is. The word failure doesn’t need to be in your vocabulary. It conjures up a lot of negative thoughts and feelings that don’t serve you well.

In reality what is failure? “You missed the mark”. When you’re playing darts and you miss your mark, you make a few corrections and throw another dart. If you never missed the mark it would be very boring for you. The miss or “failure” give us the opportunity to learn, make adjustments and continue to improve. This approach will serve you better. It’s productive, fun and doesn’t tear down your self esteem. In fact, it will improve it.

When you’re about to implement the change and you feel the resistance, ask yourself what the resistance is. Are you not sold on doing it or are you fearful of doing it? If you’re not sold on it, you know what to do. If it’s fear, ask yourself:

  • What resources do I need?
  • Do I have the resources, and if not, where can I get them?
  • What is the time period and checkpoints for completion?
  • What’s the risk? Can I live with that? What are the rewards?
  • When I run into a barrier I will gather the learning and implement the adjustments.
  • What are the joys of the journey and the benefits of its success?

Once you have your plan in place and questions answered, then make your commitment. The fear will be replaced with a renewed excitement and vigor. You will feel a renewed energy, keen sharpness and vitality as when you first began your business or relationship.

Do you remember how you felt at the beginning? Remove the fear. Replace it with that new excitement and love and get that feeling back.

How to become… Irresistibly Attractive

No, this is NOT an article about how to attract the opposite sex. The term irresistibly attractive refers to more than that. To be irresistibly attractive means that you attract those things that you desire – great people, opportunities, ideas and more. These things COME TO YOU. You do not chase them or seduce them or force them to happen. You simply attract them in to your life. Once you learn how to become more attractive, you are like a magnet bringing more wonderful things in to your business and in to your life. Here are a few ideas to help you to become irresistibly attractive.

Realizing that the law of attraction is very powerful, you should begin by turning your attention and your intention to what you desire. This will activate the energy and vibration to bring it about. Think big, really big. Attraction occurs when there is a healthy vacuum between you and what you want to have happen. The wider the gap, the greater the pulling power of attraction.

Eliminate the holes in your life. Where are you being depleted – by whom and what? Plug those holes by extending boundaries, raising standards, resolving past issues, and getting in sync. Attraction won’t find you until you’re ready. Get ready.

Pay attention to what’s happening to you and around you right now. Attraction LIVES in the moment, not in the future. Are you responding fully to both the problems and the opportunities that are occurring right now, in your space? Gotta start here, where attraction can find you. Increase your awareness of yourself, those around you, how you think, and your life assumptions.

Add value to whomever or whatever you encounter. When you add what you have to others’ lives, you become much more attractive.
Build a reserve in all areas. When you have enough money, time, space, love, ideas, opportunities, friends, you’ll become an even stronger magnet for what you want—because you won’t NEED it.

Keep in mind, attraction always starts from your thoughts and intention about what you desire. Don’t focus on what you don’t have because it will bring more of that also. The more you become aware and use the law of attraction for what you desire in your life, the more beautiful your life will become.

Are you prepared for the unexpected?

Every day we face unexpected events in our world – devastating tornadoes in the Midwest, the volatile stock market, a massive oil spill in the Gulf, the economic collapse in Greece and Europe, and unprecedented political unrest in our own country. None of us are completely safe or shielded from unexpected events. You (your business and your thinking) will no doubt be affected by some of these events, and who knows what else? There will always be unexpected events in our lives.

Are you ready? How can you be ready? No one can prepare for the unexpected. Just the same, when unexpected events or catastrophes come into our personal and business lives, we seem to always find a way to handle them, at least to some degree. More often than not, we just adjust to living with it. We feel victimized and miserable. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can be prepared – and that means adopting the right mental perception.

Here are some ideas that may help:

  • Accept the fact that with the event will come changes, and you want those changes, as best as possible, to support you.
  • Make a conscious effort to get out of the fear of the event and what could happen.
  • Know that you always have choices on how to see the situation and how to react to it.
  • Keep in mind your ultimate goal to keep centered and in a place of happiness.

Divide a sheet of paper into two columns: (1) The Down Side of the Choice and (2) The Upside of the Choice. List at least three or more choices. As this percolates in your mind, you will be able to see it more clearly. This will help get you out of the fear, stop the negative self-talk, and allow you to be more at peace. You will then be in a position which will enable you to make a much better decision.

From this place you are better suited to do what is best for you and those about you. Once you prepare mentally and emotionally, you are now ready to set your intentions on how you would like to see it. Trust your intuition to bring you the right ideas to act upon.

Celebration Time

One of the things that we seem to not do enough of is to take the time to celebrate our successes and wonderful things that please us in our business and life. We may think it just doesn’t seem that important to us. – It’s, already done; that’s great; lets move on, got task to do, fires to put out sales to increase. We’ve learn this is what a responsible business person does if we are to get ahead.

As a business person we need to have vision, creativity, passion, drive and skills and constantly improving them. This is how we achieve the monetary rewards and the satisfaction which comes from our self expression in our work which we chose because we love to do it. If you’re not passionate anymore about your work, it’s time to step back and take a good look. There are many things you can do to get the zest back. That’s one of the things we work with in coaching our clients.

When you recall and celebrate all the wonderful things that happen in your day, you create energy that attracts more of what you want in your life. Just by acknowledging your appreciation for it is a form of celebration. I have a client who looks for at least three things at the end of each day that he can be thankful for and appreciate. Some days that can be difficult. It causes you to look deeper. It could be as simple as getting inspired by a conversation you had with a person or you just reached you first million in sales. The energy that you create with this habit is a very powerful asset for you in your business and personal life. Try it out for thirty days.

I’ve got to tell you what inspired this article! A few days ago a beautiful soul came to this planet as my grandson. For those of you who have experienced being a grandparent, you know there are not enough pages in this magazine to express [celebrate] the joy that this brings.

Your Best Year Ever!

It’s the middle of the first quarter of the New Year. Your year started out with a bang, you’re right on course and it continues to get better. You kept all your resolutions. The weight is falling off, you’ve stop smoking, and you’ve cleared out all the clutter from your office and home. Your finances are in order. You’re making room to attract more money and what you want to come into your life. You’re giving thought and time to improving your business and relationships with self, significant other, family, friends and business associates. You have a strategy in place to make this year the best year ever – personally and professionally. Your confidence is high; your self esteem is peaking. If this is you – great! Congratulations! You are definitely in the minority. If this is not you and you want to be part of this wonderful minority, you certainly can be. It is your choice.

There are natural obstacles that could cause procrastination at this time of the year. Like, just getting through the stress of the holidays, the changing of the seasons, the winter doldrums. There is a circadian rhythm that affects us in winter season – maybe a little depression sets in, or just being lazy. Don’t beat yourself up for not getting it done. You may just need more rest. These are all very normal emotions. This is all part of the human experience, so stop beating up on your self. Take several deep breaths, forgive those events and people that you need to, and clear your energy. Do the best you can. Get some rest, meditate, and visualize your desires for the new year, then allow the new, refreshed YOU to emerge. Your first job is to get into a joyful state. Then, you can start to create all your desires, wants, and needs.
